We are seeking a fun, charismatic, detail-oriented, and organized individual to join our orthodontic practice as an Orthodontic Records Tech.
As an Orthodontic Records Tech, you will be responsible for managing patient records, handling digital imaging and radiography, and ensuring compliance with sterilization and infection control protocols.
Your role will play a vital part in maintaining accurate and complete patient records and contributing to the overall efficiency of our practice.
Responsibilities:
Infusing joy and enthusiasm into the records area to create an exciting and celebratory atmosphere, particularly during the special milestone of braces removal, ensuring patients leave with a sense of accomplishment and happiness.
Patient Records Management:
Maintain and organize electronic patient records with accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and update patient charts, including medical and dental history, photographs, and relevant documents.
Assist in obtaining and reviewing patient consent forms, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Provide regular, comprehensive status reports to the executive team on a weekly basis, keeping them informed of key developments and progress within the orthodontic records department.
Digital Imaging and Radiography:
Capture, process, and manage digital orthodontic images, including intraoral and extraoral photographs, X-rays, and 3D scans.
Operate and maintain digital imaging equipment, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of digital images, adjusting or retakes as required.
Collaborate with orthodontists and dental assistants to integrate digital images into patient records.
Data Entry and Administrative Support:
Accurately enter patient data and treatment information into the practice management software.
Collaborate with the administrative team to ensure a smooth workflow and excellent patient experience.
Sterilization and Infection Control:
Adhere to strict sterilization and infection control protocols following established guidelines and regulations.
Clean, disinfect, and maintain instruments, equipment, and work surfaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and materials necessary for record-keeping and digital imaging procedures.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
Stay updated on the latest advancements in orthodontic record-keeping, digital imaging technologies, and relevant software.
Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills related to orthodontic records management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in dental or orthodontic assisting is preferred.
Prior experience in orthodontic or dental records management or digital imaging is an advantage.
Familiarity with orthodontic software and practice management systems is desirable.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of sterilization and infection control protocols.
Proficiency in using computers and basic software applications.
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
