3C Womens Medical Surgical is a 30-bed post-surgical unit, located in the Ware Tower, caring for female surgical, both general and gynecological patients, along with female medical and bariatric patients.
The unit is supported by a team consisting of the unit secretary, Patient Care Technicians, Transporters, Nutrition Ambassadors, RN's, LVN's, RN Shift Supervisor, a Clinical Educator, a Manager and the Director working as a cohesive team to ensure excellent patient care.
Responsibilities The Registered Nurse is accountable for the health status and health needs of their patients based upon interpretation of health data and preventative health practices in collaboration with the patients and the interdisciplinary health-care team members.
The 3C MedSurg Staff RN cares for female post surgical patients both general and gynecological, and bariatric patients along with medical patients.
Job Duties:
Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
Consult and coordinate with health-care team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or health-care personnel or supervise a particular unit.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement programs.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Conduct specified laboratory tests.
Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition Qualifications Licenses and Certifications:
Current Texas RN license -or- eligible for issue of a Texas GN Permit CPR certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required Qualifications/
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Previous medical surgical or GYN and/or post-partum nursing experience desired Assess, plan, evaluates, documents total nursing process Critical thinking skills Organized, able to prioritize tasks Self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skills Computer skills necessary; EMR EPIC documentation Multi-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptions Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and other health-care professionals Compassionate customer service skills Committed to patient and family satisfaction.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
