Utility Systems Repairer-Operator (Boiler Plant)

This position is located in the Engineering Service at the Amarillo VA Healthcare System, Amarillo, TX.
The incumbent will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, installing and modifying complex boilers and ancillary equipment in addition to air conditioning, heating, ventilating (HVAC) equipment and systems.
Duties include but are not limited to:
o Maintains a system consisting of multi-fuel water tube and fire tube high pressureboilers; chillers; and DDC computerized burner management and monitoring systemo Operates, maintains, and modifies system to optimize efficiency and energy savingso Maintains safety and environmental functions at proper levels for patient care and other facility operationso Has experience operating one or more utility systems of large capacity and flexibilityo Utilizes multi-meters, logic diagrams, as-built electronic and pneumatic control drawings, electronic and pneumatic schematics, manufacturer's literature and other usual and customary trade toolso Monitors various back up alarm systems such as Fire Alarm, Emergency Generators, Water Tower Levels, and Liquid Oxygen, etco Completes assignments through work orders and outlined general objectiveso Makes decisions regarding technical procedures and techniqueso Ensures work deadlines are met minimizing equipment downtime and utility disruptionso Keeps shop and work areas and equipment clean, secure, and orderlyo Articulates verbally and in writing assignments received from supervisoro Records operational readings of all associated systemso Performs other related duties as assignedWork Schedule:
