Medical Administration Specialist

Data management for medical service for day to day planning for clinical services. Assist in developing plans to capture data for performance measures, workload and ongoing professional evaluations. Directs and forecasts workload variations and trends and makes necessary adjustments to meet the medical center's workload plans. Developing plans, systems, and facility policy and procedures required to carry out the functions of the Service in accordance with controlling laws, regulations, and broad agency principles; adopting standards, techniques, and procedures to meet local needs; coordinating program needs with other clinical and administrative services; and preparing recommendations for the concurrence of the Administrative Officer/Chief, Medical Service. Assists in preparation of reports, monitoring reporting activities and work assignments, and administrative aspects such as computer access request, personal identity verification for full-time staff to include residents/students program. Assist in organizing formal orientation program for new house staff. Assist with call schedules, mandatory education, and rosters for the residency programs. Assist with house staff records such as applications, resident credentials verification letters, evaluations, time cards, preparation of billings and salary payments, and statistics regarding all aspects of the Residency Program. Assist with control point funds for residency programs and contracts are properly handled. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating clinic cancellations as providers enter leave request. Is responsible for data tracking, scheduling and shift counts for the Emergency Department. Incumbent is responsible for consult tracking. Incumbent is also responsible for administratively completing the consult when the patient is present for the appointment. Incumbent is also responsible for entering workload for inpatient medicine consults into the event capture package to ensure that medicine providers receive appropriate workload credit for all inpatient consults they complete. Provides back-up coverage for program support assistant, secretary and administrative officer during absences. Incumbent should be able to provide all other additional duties as assigned. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies, guidelines and procedures; inpatient and outpatient administration; medical records and related fields of medical administration; functions of computer spreadsheets, database computer applications; statistical (mathematical) analytical principles and computer literacy; fundamental knowledge or organizational theory and practice; skill in oral and written communications; English usage, proper formatting and application in preparation of formal correspondence; analyze and validate reports of data, workload and funding; laws and regulations regarding combat Veterans and their eligibility. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have at least 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B, or J.D., if related Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. One full year of full-time study is defined as 18 Semester hours. NOTE:
