RN- (Designated Learning Officer)

The RN-Designated Learning Officer (DLO) has direct line authority, responsibility and accountability for the education administration and operations as assigned and/or delegated by the ADPCS/ NE. The DLO has primary responsibility for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the overall Education/Workforce Development Program across the Amarillo VA Health Care System (AVAHCS). The below duties include but are not limited to the duties of the RN-Designated Learning Officer:
Works independently using sound judgment in making decisions and provides leadership to interdisciplinary groups at all levels to include the executive level. Exhibits leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health and the responsibility for outcomes. Practices consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, Code for Nurses, VHA regulations, and outside accreditation bodies in accordance with established standardized policies and procedures, within knowledge/education span and within demonstrated competency levels. Provides leadership in the development of policies and systems to devise strategies that will enable the organization to successfully manage bioethical issues and protect patient and family rights. Assesses , plans, implements, and evaluates education strategies to meet complex care needs within changing practice environments for diverse population groups. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Experience:
2-3years of RN nursing education experience, previous experience as a Chief Nurse or at the leadership/CNO position (Acting, Interim, or permanent), experience is personnel management, organizational structures, and staffing methodology. Experience with Nursing Education organizational programs. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse IV - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 4-5 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or related field and appropriate basic or advanced certification desired, and approximately 3-4 years of nursing practice/experience. Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-6 Nurse Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
The functional requirements for this position are:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
