Xcel Energy is seeking one (1) or more Instrument & Control Tech B's for Nichols Station in Amarillo, TX.

Summary
Job duties will include, but not limited to:
Maintain, troubleshoot and install computer systems and assist with control systems in fossil-fired generating plants. Make recommendations to improve operation and efficiency. Perform computer maintenance, analyze problems and installation of computer control systems including plant instrumentation, environmental monitoring systems, recording, transmitting and indicating equipment. Assist in the maintenance, calibration, installation, analysis, tuning & performance evaluation of control systems including boiler controls, turbine governor controls, water treatment process controls, etc. Perform plant testing for plant betterment and predictive equipment maintenance. Assist in planning, installing and supporting instrument and control systems including preparing budget estimates, material specifications, scheduling, fabrication, etc. Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems to recommend maintenance or modification to plant operating and maintenance procedures. The employee will be required to actively participate in hands-on training, required classroom training and computer interactive training programs, as directed by management. Travel to other locations may be required.

All outside applicants will begin at I&C Technician G and be required to advance to I&C Technician B within the required time frame allowed by the Instrument and Controls Program.

Required
- High school diploma or GED

- Associates Degree in Computer Science & Programming, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking & Communications or Instrumentation and Controls is preferred.
- Must have successfully passed the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Maintenance Positions Selection Systems (MASS) test

- Must respond to overtime and call outs
- Must commit to working safely and adhere to Company safety rules including wearing a hard hat, safety footwear, protective eye wear and Proper Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Valid driver's license
- Must be respirator qualified (Pulmonary Function Test)
- Must take Base line Audiogram
- Successfully pass the Xcel Energy screening requirements, which include a drug test, security clearance and other exams that are required by federal regulations, such as OSHA and DOT, will be performed as required
